Senior IP Engineer/Manager IP Engineering

Primary Responsibilities:                       

The Senior IP Engineering / Manager position performs a broad variety of technical engineering and project management roles that support network design, deployment, operation and management of Lightower’s Ethernet and IP network infrastructure.   This senior level position’s responsibilities include; technical analysis and equipment trials, new/enhanced service deployment, technical support specific to data connectivity offerings and vendor management.

This position is instrumental in setting policies, establishing procedures and implementing standards to ensure network integrity.  Creation and maintenance of Engineering documents and procedures pertaining to network configuration, network management, and service level design are also required. 

 Job Qualification / Experience

 Education/Training/Work experience:

• Knowledge of the following; BGP, iBGP, OSPF, MLPPP, MPLS, VPLS, Traffic Engineering, H-QoS, IEEE 802.1 and 802.3 standards, IPv4, IPv6, and Circuit Emulation.

• Familiar with current MEF specifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent years of network experience, education and training

• Ten years engineering or network design experience

• Five years of supervisory experience in a technical environment

• Experience & familiarity with two of the following; Cisco GSR/ESR, Juniper M series or Alcatel 7000 series.

 Specialized Knowledge:

• Experienced in creating and managing a capital budget.

• Strong knowledge of SNMP and network management methodologies

• Strong knowledge of network security practices

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, goal and team-oriented environment.

• Must be detail oriented & highly motivated

• GMPLS experience a plus
